Matchroom Sport are pleased to announce that the qualifying events for the 2002 World Pool Championship will once again be taking place at the Stars & Stripes Pool Club, Bristol, England commencing Saturday 6th and concluding on Thursday 11th July, two days before the start of the main event at the Cardiff International Arena.

This year there will be a total of eleven spots up for grabs with two players per day qualifying from the five separate events. In addition, there will be a repeat of last year's sensational 'One-Frame Shoot-Out' where the remaining players went head-to-head in a sudden death event.

So far over 100 players from 15 countries have registered to compete in the qualifying events. Last year, qualifiers included Chris Melling (England), David Alcaide (Spain) and Anthony Ginn (England) who all reached the last 16 and earned themselves $4,000. In addition, qualifying players Gary Ponting (England), Thorsten Hohmann (Germany) and Kevin Smith (England) made the last 32, winning $2,000.

The 2002 World Pool Championship Qualifiers will be organised and operated by Pro 9-Ball Tour chairman Doug Gordon.
