Snooker Player's Guide To English Billiards
Fri 4th Dec 2009 06:12am
englishBilliards.org have released a new book on English Billiards, tailored for the snooker and pool player - The Snooker Player's Guide To English Billiards. You can actually view the contents page and some of the content of the book too before you buy. Hopefully this book will make Billiards more accessible to snooker and pool players. It is usually regarded as an impenetrable dark art, or worse, just as the outdated, or nearly dead, forerunner to snooker. Playing a variety of cue sports is a good way to strengthen your cueing skills, as each game requires proficiency in a different set of shots. Among the skills Billiards focuses on are caroms and maneuvering the cue ball accurately round the table off many cushions - skills that have the potential to help you out of tight spots in snooker and pool, and also to improve your safety game. Speaking as someone who has downloaded the rules with a view to trying the game, but after reading them decided it was too complicated to bother with unless I could find someone who already knew how to play (I didn't), this book will be top of my Christmas list this year. |
