BPPPA President Ted Bristow RetiresMon 17th Dec 2007 08:12am
BPPPA Press Release:The British Professional Pool Players Association regret to announce the retirement due to ill-health of BPPPA Founder and President, Mr Ted Bristow. With immediate effect, Mr Bristow will discontinue all activities in relation to the pool disciplines at national level. Following a second period in hospital this year, Mr Bristow formally announced his decision to the World Pool Association and European Pocket Billiard Federation on the 22nd August 2007 and in that statement Mr Bristow added: "The decision I have made has not been an easy one to make but have concluded that it is in the best interest of the pool sport in Great Britain and, on a personal level for myself and family as well. As you are aware, I have been involved with the sport in the UK since my return to the country from residing in the U.S. in 2001. Since then I have made many friends and in particular those associated with the EPBF and WPA. I should like to take this opportunity to personally thank all those for their help and assistance during my time in office and wish the EPBF and WPA every success in the future." More recently Mr Bristow wrote: "During the past years, and it is evident now, BPPPA Tournaments have without question increased the standard of play in Great Britain to unprecedented levels. We have seen many medals won by our members at the European Championships in all categories of play which include the Men's division, Ladies and Ladies Team, Juniors and Juniors Team, Blackball Team event. The BWPPA have dominated the European Championships in wheelchair events in recent years and now have the second largest wheelchair tour in the world outside of the continental United States. Euro Tour winners Daryl Peach and Imran Majid have shown that pool in the UK is now a force to be reckoned with. We have also seen a World Pool Masters win by our very own Raj Hundal and this year we were delighted to witness history in the making with the magnificent World Pool Championship win by Daryl Peach. It gives me great pleasure to have been involved during this era and not only do I congratulate all those concerned but offer my very best wishes to all our players for the future." |
